Zoe Kravitz in X-Men: First Class

Kravitz says, “I was actually one of the last people cast. It happened really quickly. They were being really secretive about the script and the characters that were going to be in the film, so I didn’t even know who I was auditioning for. I didn’t think I had a shot. I didn’t even take it seriously. It wasn’t with [director] Matthew [Vaughn]. It was with the casting director in New York. I got the call at the last minute and I’d gone out the night before and I was hungover and tired and not the prepared person that I usually am. I was wearing a big hat and totally not being a sexy “X-Men” character. I went in and had a good time with it. They called back and said, “Matthew really responded to your tape, but can you come back and maybe wear something a little more sexy?” I didn’t know until later the character was a go-go dancer. I went back in and in the next two weeks, I was on plane to London.”

Where's Our Change Video

by KEITH KOFFLER on APRIL 21, 2011, 5:55 PM

President Obama was heckled today at a San Francisco fundraiser by a table of contributors seeking freedom for Bradley Manning, the U.S. soldier accused of leaking classified information to Wikileaks.

In the song, the protestors said they would vote for Obama but expressed disappointment with him, singing “We’ve paid our dues, where’s our change?”

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Obama found the disturbance “kind of funny.”

But not since a an Iraqi threw his shoe at George W. Bush have I seen a president treated with so little respect. This is certainly a sign that the Obama mystique of 2008 has worn off completely.

Dr. Dre wins judgment over "Chronic" reissue

BY ERIQ GARDNER

Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, claimed that the digital release of his early work violated a 15-year-old contract that guided how such material would be presented to the public.
The lawsuit stems from his days at "gangsta" rap label Death Row Records, which he co-founded. The label later suffered financial problems and has emerged under new corporate ownership as WIDEawake Death Row Records.
In 1996, he left Death Row to set up a new shop at Interscope Records, and bought his freedom by disclaiming his ownership interest in both Death Row and the sound recordings he had produced there.
But Dre also didn't want his legacy tarnished, so in a 1996 deal, he sought some measure of security in how Death Row presented his recordings by making the label agree not to distribute any of his songs except "in the manners heretofore distributed."
One of the first releases for the new WIDEawake Death Row Records was a digital re-issue of "The Chronic" as well as a Dre greatest hits collection. Dre then sued.
The issue of artistic control and profit participation in digital releases of old work has been a sore subject for the past decade. Other artists such as Pink Floyd have sued, contending their works were only meant to be distributed as albums, not singles in venues like Apple's iTunes. Some producers, like the one guiding Eminem's early career, have successfully argued they should be entitled to higher royalty rates from record labels for digital distribution of their work.
In Dre's case, the issue turned on his artistic intention and an examination of contracts made during the formative period of his career. Arriving at a conclusion here wasn't easy. Most of the agreements made between Dre and the folks running Death Row at the time were oral ones, subject to differing interpretation about what was said upwards of two decades ago.
A few months ago, a judge dismissed several of Dre's claims -- that the reissue constituted trademark infringement, false endorsement, and a publicity rights violation -- but the main claim over an alleged contract breach survived.
In a decision on Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Christina Snyder finds that the agreement not to distribute Dre's songs except "in the manners heretofore distributed" unambiguously prohibited Death Row from reissuing "The Chronic" in a new form, including as digital downloads.
The case now moves onto a question of damages. Judge Snyder agrees that Dre was forced to accept a reduced royalty rate for the reissue than he normally would have accepted. She limits Dre's award to "actual damages," though. Just how much Dre is owed will be the subject of a jury trial, in all probability

Food For Thought If You're Hungry

The bullshit in music has BLINDED people to the point they can't HEAR the message nor do they want to receive it. Music used to have a conscious but somewhere lost it's  blinded by drugs, cars, clothes, jewelry and lies that are told. It's the hypocrite in all of us that condone & support the ills of music, but we shake our head at these entertainers when they are arrested on what we think are issues that they should known better than to be in to begin with.

Music is there to help us escape those few minutes in life as well as to educate learn to know and appreciate all that music is and music does. Music is very much like the people we have in our day to day lives. We have people that we may hang out with or talk to strictly to have fun and release, the wild friend, there is music that is there for us to release and just have fun. There are people that we have in our lives that we call on when we are down and we need sound conscious advice, there is music that can help us cope with those down times that speaks to the conscious. Then there's that friend that is a combination of both they are wild and fun yet can help give you insight to whatever you are thinking and feeling much like music.

Know your music much like the people you know in life and what they are there for, know and learn to appreciate the differences.

RETURN OF 4EVA

By now if you are a true fan of Hip-Hop you've at least heard the buzz or have downloaded what arguably has to be mixtape/album of the year. This magnum opus has been given to the world by a small town guy by the name of Justin Scott of Meridian, Mississippi.

Justin had given himself the moniker KRITKAL but after talking it over with a relative came to the agreement that he needed a new name, so he thought about it and just decided to go by K.R.I.T. but the name had to have meaning as well as stand the test of time so K.R.I.T. is an acronym for King Remembered In Time. That's a big name to give ones self especially to be from some small country town in a state where it's known for it's racism, take a listen to Sookie Now ft David Banner on his new album Return of 4eva.
A Black King in a small Mississippi town one would think that to be impossible but he showed that it may be possible after dropping K.R.I.T. Wuz Here and being signed to Def Jam gaining a decent underground following. I must admit I was late last year by a month or so K.R.I.T. Wuz Here but "the latest I could be was on time." I instantly knew after hearing him that he could be the one to restore the balance of the force known as Hip-Hop, he is indeed to Hip-Hop as Luke Skywalker was to the Jedi and the Rebel Alliance. Back to the name K.R.I.T. over the past week I've seen on twitter people saying they don't want to even give him a listen because of the name K.R.I.T. one went as far as to call him a country bama, which I really take offense because I'm from Alabama and find it very disrespectful when I hear that, to me that really shows how ignorant people can be, this guy indeed is Another Naive Individual Glorifying Greed and Encouraging Racism ( A N.I..G.G.E.R.), which is the title of an amazing song that K.R.I.T. has composed. He actually threw quick light on people dissing his moniker K.R.I.T. on his song Made Alot ft fellow Alumni member and hard hitter Big Sant by saying "Call him KIRT call him K.R.I.T. fuck that nigga I ain't sho."

I find myself being a big supporter of K.R.I.T. because I know what things can be like coming from a small town in the South being proud of where you're from but knowing the likely hood of living your dream doing something you love when your surroundings tell you different may seem impossible. In your heart and soul you know different your mind has taken you way beyond the confines of this small town and in the song entitled 'The Vent' K.R.I.T. says "I don't need jail to be behind bars" small town life in the South is like a mental jail to many, some never get out or even leave their hometown.

Possibly my favorite song on the album is 'Free My Soul' living anywhere I suppose anybody can see it, here in Atlanta now being dubbed "Black Hollywood" it is so evident people move here in pursuit of making it, see and be seen get caught up in it and many change for the worse. My favorite line possibly on the whole album is in this song and sums it all up when K.R.I.T. says "forever dreaming wishing on a star for help, I give a nigga food for thought he'd rather starve himself". That one line helps put the state of music in a nut shell music has lost the need for real content and subject matter, K.R.I.T. has come in to fill that void.

Hip-Hop and I go way back to Kurtis Blow, he was the first rapper I heard back in 1979 so I have a 32 year love affair with Hip-Hop, I've seen her go through many changes, move from region to region but when she moved to the South I couldn't have been more proud to be with her because we no longer had a long distance relationship where when I visited her via my mind I didn't have to learn the language and customs of other regions, she moved where I understand the drawls, accents and customs of where I'm from, I could be myself.

Scarface, Eightball & MJG, UGK, Outkast, G.O.O.D.I.E. Mob and others have obviously shaped Young Krizzle's rhymes and at times his Pimp C type flow ( R.I.P. the Pimp). He obviously saw the blueprint that the great southern MC's had laid out for the next generation Of Hip-Hop but somewhere she got lost and went in a new direction all in all I still loved her. The South as well as Hip-Hop as I said before is strong in the young MC, he brings consciousness, awareness and Southern Fried flavor to the masses.

I've seen him gain almost 10,000 fans on twitter since the album dropped and seen people from all over the country and world become fans and I've seen them saying he is now the voice of "Southern Hip-Hop" K.R.I.T.'S voice as is his mind reaches more than the South, he has renewed the faith of many in Hip-Hop period. To say that K.R.I.T. is the voice of only "Southern Hip-Hop" and doesn't transcend the South is like saying that Dr. King's Dream didn't transcend races as well as genders, and you can put that on my Sub.

There aren't enough stars in the sky, mics in the world or XL's in the world I can give this project but all 21 songs are phenomenal, anyone with a sound mind and ear for music will be able to agree. Download your copy asap at http://returnof4eva.com/ it is free but feel free to hit the Donate button so that K.R.I.T. can keep his weight up and keep giving the Hip-Hop world timeless music and he can be that King Remembered In Time.
